How to Maintain Your Hair As It GrowsDon't lose patience as you add smoothies to your diet. Your hair will grow, and your body will begin to respond to the good stuff you are putting in it. Just keep focused on how much more manageable your hair is. Here I want to share a few tips on how to maintain your hair as it starts to grow.Tip #1Avoid styling your hair with heat. Whether it's a blow dryer, curling iron or flat iron, they can all cause damage to the hair. If you have to use heat, make sure you use a heat protectant.Tip #2A mask work wonders for your hair. Sleep with one on your hair overnight. Rinse it out the next morning and take a picture of your hair because it is going to be selfie worthy.Tip #3Use the growing out phase as a time to try out some new styles. You'll be amazed at your creativity. If you need inspiration, check out our blogs.Tip #4Trim your hair as it is growing out. Doing this gets rid of split ends and damaged hair. I suggest a trim about every three to four months.Tip #5We all love a long hot shower, but this can be detrimental to your hair. Turn the temperature down, so you don't dry your hair out.Tip #6Skip shampooing or co-washing your hair every day! You will strip the hair of oils that take care of your scalp and follicles. We have a great blog on how to keep your hair clean without shampooing it.Tip #7A great alternative to shampoo is to co-wash your hair. You use conditioner to wash your hair. This process gets rid of all the nasty stuff yet leaves the natural oils to protect your hair.Tip #8Keep water on you 24-7. I like to keep water in the trunk of my car. It's essential to stay hydrated especially during the summer months.Tip #9Massage your scalp to encourage blood circulation. Whenever you shampoo, co-wash, or apply oil to your scalp massage it in with your fingertips. Massaging stimulates the scalp as well as your hair follicle |
