Bey Fly for BeychellaHey hair moguls and hair slayers! Can I ask you one question? Where were you on Sunday, April 15th, 2018 at around 1:15 am? I was up watching the live stream of Beyonce's Coachella performance via Youtube. To all my Beyonce fans (Check out this article: Beyonce natural hair) I want to call you to rejoice with me at the incredible performance by any music star since Michael Jackson! In honor of her jaw-dropping performance sing along with me my favorite part of “Run the World” which is, “Boy, you know you love it How we're smart enough To make these millions Strong enough to bare the children Then get back to business" I want to remind you this year's performance has been a year in the making. Bey’s original show was postponed due to her pregnancy last year. She lives up to her lyrics because she has her twins and Blue, a husband, and a successful career.
Bey on The SlayThere is something about a consummate professional who shows you how to step up to the plate, work hard, and solidify your lane. Beyonce's performance is, for me, the most memorable show during Coachella! Due to me having so many favorite parts of the show, I am going to break down how you can wear your favorite hairstyle this weekend. I’m just saying no time like the present to get cute, show up, and then cut up like Beyonce. As you read this article keep in mind how powerful you are. Beyonce shows us how to shape the world with her talent and influence. You can do the same. Wear your favorite style and own it! You know what we have to do! Lets just press play on our Beyonce playlist! I’m dancing and singing off-key already while dabbing Kaleidoscope drops on my snatched edges.
|The headdress Beyonce wears in the opening of her Coachella show is breathtaking! It is a piece created by Balmain and designed to Beyonce’s specifications. Due to her Nefertiti theme, her stage looks very ornate and goes right in line with her message of royalty and pride. There are tons of tutorials on Youtube to help you create your DIY headdress. I encourage you to use your imagination and get creative.|
Inches on Inches of Kinky WavesDuring the opening, she changes into a pair of denim shorts and yellow pullover cropped hoodie. She has inches honey, and they look flawless! I’m ready to help you and me both channel our inner Beyonce by replicating this style. Let's get to it!
Bleach Your Bundles
Step #1Take your bundles and spread them out on a plastic bag
Step #2Comb through them to remove any tangles
Step #3Mix 20 developer and bleaching powder
Step #4In another bowl mix 40 developer and bleaching powder
Step #5Lay out your 14 inch frontal and 16-inch bundle. Double the 16-inch bundle to make it easier to bleach the bundles
Step #6Pull out small pieces from the bundles to bleach the hair
Step #7Using your 20 developer mixture color the strands you pulled out but not the ends
Step #8Wrap bleached section in hair foil to allow processing
Step #9Alternate your sections by bleaching a part and skipping a section
Step #10Pull out small sections of hair and bleach with the 20 developer mixture
Step #11Skip a section of hair
Step #12Continue this process on the entire bundle
Step #13Go back and color the tips of all the hair that has the foil with the 40 developer mix
Step #14Wrap these sections in foil as well
Step #15Rinse the extensions to stop the bleaching process
Step #16On the 18-inch bundles apply the 20 developer mixture to the halfway down the bundles
Step #17You want the bleaching process to be more random so be less deliberate with application
Step #18Apply the 40 developer mixture to the ends of the hair
Step #19Wrap the hair in foil and allow it to process
Step #20Rinse the extensions to stop the bleaching process
Step #21Apply 40 developer mixture to the 22-inch bundle

Step #24When you bleach your frontal spread it out on a plastic bag
Step #25Using your 20 developer mixture bleach the frontal well
Step #26Flip the frontal over to bleach the knots
Step #27Bleach the knots by dabbing the bleaching mixture on
Step #28Rinse the frontal to stop the bleaching process
Color Your Bundles
Step #1Mix the ash blonde, developer, and olapex together
Step #2Apply the mixture to your extensions from root to tip
Step #3Wrap in foil to allow it to process
Step #4Repeat the above steps for the frontal
Step #5Allow the frontal to process from 25-35 minutes Okay, you have made it this far so let's keep going.
Step #6Shampoo and condition the extensions
Step #7Allow extensions to air-dry or use a blow dryer
Create Your Wig
Step #1Take your frontal and place it over your dome cap
Step #2The front of your frontal is flush with the edge of the cap. The baby hairs should be in front of the cap.
Step #3Pin the frontal to your styrofoam head
Step #4Gather all of the hair and tie it up so you can see your lace
Step #5At the ear area, make sure you leave a little lace on the sides to sew your frontal.
Step #6Take your needle through the frontal and the cap
Step #7Bring the needle and thread through the loop to secure your extension
Step #8Sew both sides down while making sure your stitches are close together to prevent buckling.
Step #9Pull your cap a little to remove any buckling
Step #10Keep your stitches close and tight while stitching away from you
Step #11Begin sewing your bundles by doubling the wefts
Step #12Start at the back of the head and sew through the dome cap
Step #13Bring the needle back through the weft
Step #14Complete 5-7 stitches and then knot them
Step #15Knot the thread at the end
Step #16Continue this process until your frontal and weft meet
Step #17Sew the weft and the frontal together It's time for the fun part! Let's get to styling your wig just like Mrs. Carter.
Step #1Spray your wig with hairspray before curling
Step #2Using a wand curler add tight curls Don't worry if your curls look too tight because they will fall over the next few days. Go ahead and break necks in these streets!
|Later in her performance, Beyonce adds extensions to give her hair a fuller look! You can purchase yours from Private Label Extensions and color the same as you did the bundles above. You can also install clip-ins which I love because of the ease of style. Beyonce has her husband come out on stage to perform "Deja Vu," and by now I'm singing and trying my best to get the choreography down from the video. One of the most epic and memorable moments is when Solange and Beyonce perform together. What would Beychella be without Kelly and Michelle? I’m going to hook your girls up so they can be cute with you. I know you will love them as much as I do. Heck! It’s time for another girls night out.|
Cue The MusicWhen Bey, Kelly, and Michelle's silhouettes rise on that stage, I am about to pass out. Then you think of epic moments, this is one! I know you all are with me when I say we want another Destiny's Child album! They do not disappoint with their performances nor with their hairstyles when they hit the stage.
Kelly RowlandKelly came to slay! I am gasping for air when she struts down the stage giving us abs, a mean walk, and a gorgeous ponytail. It is clear she has absolute loyalty to her Destiny's Child group members while her smile shows she is ready to kill the stage. Not only is her style on point her hair is too. I love Kelly's hairstyle choice because it shows us how a simple style can pull together an entire look. The hairstyle Kelly flaunts is so easy to recreate so let's get to recreate it right now.
|If your hair is natural here’s how to get your ponytail smooth and sleek:
Step #1Shampoo your hair
Step #2Apply a leave-in conditioner
Step #3Part hair into four sections
Step #4Detangle hair with a wide-toothed comb
Step #5Spray hair with water to make it easier to style
Step #6Brush through each section and clip up
Step #7Brush your hair smooth around the parted area of your hairline
Step #8Apply eco-style gel to hairline and crown of hair
Step #9Brush your hair smooth until it looks how you want it to look
Step #10Part your hair in the back beginning at the top of your earlobe
Step #11Clip your extension in upside down but make sure it’s not at the end of the nape because it will be harder to conceal the tracks
Step #12Then part about half a finger length higher and install your next clip-in upside down
Step #13Continue this process until you are at the crown of your head
Step #14Secure your ponytail with an elastic band
Step #15Use bobby pins or eco-style gel to tame any loose hair
Step #16Tie down your hair with a scarf for at least an hour
Step #17Remove your scarf and use your edge control to smooth down your edges
Step #18Remove your elastic band and tighten up your ponytail if needed
Michelle WilliamsI am always cheering for Michelle. Her presence in Destiny's Child is instrumental to the three-part harmony they showcase at Coachella. She is living her best life with her bae, personal music projects and her history-making performance with her group members. Michelle rocked bangs and wavy locks on stage. You can rock them too. Let get into Michelle's style.
Step #1Braid two cornrows across the back of the head
Step #2Part the hair down the center
Step #3Braid two cornrows, starting at the center part, along with the perimeter of the head
Step #4There should be two cornrows on each side
Step #5Braid a center braid from front to back
Step #6Braid another braid going straight to the braid and braid in the end from your other cornrow
Step #7Braid the rest of the head
Step #8Sew the ends of the braids in between your braids
Step #9Sew on a weaving net
Step #10The tracks should form a “U” shape around the head
Step #11Once you get to the mid-back of the head, bring the weft up along the perimeter of the head
Step #12Alternate between sewing the extensions in across the front of your head and still sewing in extensions in a “U" shape
Step #13Once you are at the crown of your head, sew the extensions in a circular motion
Step #14Make sure you sew the tracks together as close s possible
Step #15Continue sewing until you have a tightly closed section
Step #16Once completed section the hair how you will wear it
Step #17You can wet the crown of your head with water and sit under the dryer for about 5 minutes if desired
Step #18Flatiron the entire head using a heat protectant
Step #19Trim the hair’s ends to get a clean look
Step #20Trim the bangs by cutting small sections at a time Ok! You look cute! Remember, if you have a closure or a frontal, you will install it instead of sewing the tracks in a circular motion.
Own Your SpaceYour hair is a conversation piece. It doesn't matter what you do for a living or who you are hairstyles can have women chatting instantly. Beyonce's performance is about more than hair. It's about the total look. When I say "own your space," it's meant to stop you from being so hard on yourself. You are beautiful, and there's no one else like you.
