30 DIY Deep Conditioners to Try for your Hair Extensions

Extra TLC For Your Tresses

As much as we love to treat our natural hair to deep conditioners, hot oil treatments, steam treatments, etc., we forget that your extensions need love too!

Your extensions need extra TLC, merely because they aren't attached to your scalp, and they aren't receiving nutrition from your body. Our hair extensions need vitamins, minerals, moisture, and protein just like our natural hair does.

Here are 10 DIY deep conditioner products for your hair extensions!

1. Hair Mayo Madness

You will need:

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Tea Tree Oil
  • Castor Oil
  • One Egg
  • Hair Mayo
  • Coconut Oil

What I love about this recipe is there is no wrong or right way to mix it!

Instructions:

You can use as much or as little of each ingredient to customize the deep conditioner for your hair extensions. For extra dry and damaged hair, use more oil. If your extensions are not dry and are just a little kinky, use less oil to prevent grease build-up.

I love to start with three tablespoons of hair mayo, one tablespoon of coconut oil, one teaspoon of tea tree oil, and one egg. Use a fork to mix the ingredients until there are no lumps evenly.

After you shampoo your extensions, towel-dry the majority of water from the hair. Then, use your hands to apply your DIY deep conditioner to the extensions. Comb the mixture through to ensure even distribution. Place your extensions in a plastic bag for 1 hour.

Thoroughly rinse the hair with warm to hot water and blow-dry.

14. Banana For Dry Hair

Let me tell you first if no one else does, when it comes to treating dry hair bananas are one of the best-kept secrets. Bananas are rich in vitamins such as Vitamin A and potassium.

For this DIY deep conditioner, you will also be using olive oil, which has been frequently used in a lot of these deep conditioners. Olive oil is used to help penetrate and add moisture to dry parched strands. The last and final ingredient is greek yogurt.

Greek yogurt will provide the hair with a healthy balance of moisture and protein to help soften dry hair strands.

You will need:

  • One ripe banana
  • 2-3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • One tablespoon pure honey
  • plastic conditioning cap
