The Best Prom Hairstyles & How To Get Them!

Prom was one of the most remarkable moments of my high school career. I had never had the chance to get glammed up, so I reveled in every moment. These days prom has taken on a whole new level of glam, and sometimes that can get stressful and expensive.

Straight and Sleek

Sleek straight hair is a timeless look for any special occasion, especially prom. Not only is it one of the hottest styles of prom season, but its also a look that is easy to achieve all by yourself. Another significant aspect of this style is the fact that you'll never fuss over your hair. From day to night it will stay perfectly straight, no need to touch up curls or flyaways. You can create your long bone straight tresses all by yourself with ease with only a few items. Supplies:

• • 1-2 bundles of straight Private Label Extensions
  • 20 Bend and snap wig clips
  • Black or nude thread (depends on the color of your wefts)
  • Needle

• Scissors
• Super Glue

How to Make Clip-ins:

Did you know that you can make clip-ins yourself? Lets go over step by step how to do so.

1. First, you want to decide if you want super thick straight hair or you want more of a natural density. If you're going for a thicker density, then you'll want to double your wefts. The weft of your bundle is a thick band where all of the strands of hair meet.
2. Next, prep your needle. If you’ve never thread a needle before, don't worry it's not that hard. All you need to do is pull up about 1 foot of thread from the spool and cut it.
3. Then take your needle and feed one end of the thread through the eye. The eye of the needle is the portion of the base with the hole in it. Watches threaded one end of the thread through the eye of a needle you’ll need to connect the two ends and tie a knot.
4. Set your threaded needle to the side and grab your extensions.
5. Measure the extensions horizontally against the nape of your head. Cut the expansion here. If you plan to double your wefts, fold the end over and cut where the two ends meet.
6. Use your thread and needle to secure the end where the Wicks meat so that they don't unravel after you after you've applied your wig clips. Two simple knots will be good enough to secure this end.

Next Up:

1. Next, tie a new knot at the end of your thread.
2. To apply your wig clip, all you need to do is line the edge of the clip up with the edge of the extension’s weft. Take your needle and inserted through the hole at the end of the wig clip through the weft and out the other side.
3. Repeat the same step through the same hole one or two more times, then tie a knot at the end and cut the thread. Repeat this step with the farthest hole on the same clip. There is no reason to sew through each hole in the wig clip but feel free to do so.
4. Repeat steps 6 and seven on a clip on the other end of your (almost) clip-in.

Voila! You have one clip in!

Cost-Effective, and Easy

You can make as many as you like, but typically 6 to 10 is enough for a full head. When you're creating the clipping that will go from ear-to-ear, you'll place the third clip in the center of the weft to generate support in the middle. Invisible Ponytail

I don't know about you, but a cute, sleek ponytail will forever be a classic for any special occasion. This year young ladies have taken ponytails to new heights and lengths. I had a client request to have her hair done correctly like Kash Doll’s for prom, with the side swoop and super long ponytail. Of course, my client didn't want to buy 24-inch Brazilian hair, because just one bundle is usually pretty expensive so I did an invisible ponytail as an alternative. An invisible ponytail is a ponytail created with shorter length hair wrapped in a way that creates the illusion of an extremely long ponytail. This is perfect for a high school student who owns a fabulous look without the celebrity cost. Creating your invisible ponytail is super easy, and I'm going to tell you how. Supplies:

• 12 or 14-inch Private Label Extension Bundle
• Braid hair
• Rubber bands
• Rattail comb
• Bees Wax
• Pump It Up
• Flatiron
• Heat Protectant
• Hair Glue
• Scissors

How To Create An Invisible Ponytail:

1. First, you need to prep your hair by straightening it out so that your ponytail has a smooth, sleek finish. I suggest taking one-inch sections applying a heat protectant and using the chase method to straighten out each section.
2. Once you straighten all of your hair decide where you're going to place your part. I prefer a deep side part, so I begin the part where my brow starts and create a long curved piece about 4 or 5 inches back.
3. Part away the back section and clip it up so that you're only working on the ponytail portion. To create and hold your ponytail use the tail end of your comb to part all sections and apply beeswax in between them. Using this is going to give you a soft, smooth ponytail with absolutely no fly aways. Take your time doing this by working in small sections, and use the comb to smooth the beeswax through your hair. When you've finished, use a rubber band to secure it.

Then...

1. Unclip the bang and mold it the same way you did the ponytail. Here you can create shape and drama by using the right tool to smooth the beeswax through the hair and sweeping it to your preference.
2. Next, grab your Pump It Up spray and spray it all over. Use the back side of your comb to smooth in the product. Use a satin scarf to tie down your hair.
3. To create your ponytail use the braid hair to create a foot long braids. To protect your natural hair try your best to tuck your natural hair into the braid hair strand so that the hair glue doesn't attach itself to the length of your hair.
4. Unravel your bundle of hair and apply glue to the weft. Wrap the weft around the tip of the braid tightly and use a blow dryer to dry the glue. Continue to wrap the weft around the braids leaving a pinkies width of space between each weft, moving up the braid. Continue to use your blow dryer to dry the glue as you go.

Then...

1. Once you made it to the base of the braid, continue to wrap the left until it meets the base of the ponytail. Here you can cut the weft.
2. To conceal the weft at the base of the ponytail take a small section from the bottom side of the illusion ponytail, spray it with Pump It Up, and wrap it to cover the weft.
3. Drench the section in Pump It Up and run your flat iron over it to make sure its dry and secure.

At this point, your ponytail is done, but if you want to add curls, you can go in later by layer and use your flat iron to create long loose curls. This revamped classic is sure to turn heads at prom. You can feel confident in this look without the pressure to buy three bundles of super long hair. It's not just for prom either. Half Up Half Down

The ’80s and ’90s are making their way back with a fierceness and the half up half down is FIERCE! I never thought the day would come that the half up half down would make such a comeback! Of course, I rocked this style when I was young, like every other little girl. Prom is a great reason to go all out with the hair so you can make this style all your own. You can rock it big like a lion’s mane or a smooth curly waterfall. You’ll need a few things to achieve this style yourself! Supplies:

• 2 Private Label Extension bundles 20-24 inches (go long!)
• Straight hairpins
• Hair Glue
• Weaving glue shield
• Wig Cap
• Needle/thread
• Pump It Up

How To Create The Half Up Half Down Hair Look:

Before you even start to make sure that you always start with clean hair!

1. Part your hair from the tip of one ear to the other and clamp the sections
2. Working on the back half first, the part about ⅓ of an inch out of the top and braid it horizontally. Part enough hair out from along the perimeter so that it sufficiently cover your wefts and braid it to keep it out of the way
3. Braid the center portion in a circular pattern

Then...

1. Apply your wig cap and sew it to the circular foundation you just created
2. Apply the weave glue shield next and allow it to dry
3. For the front section, you can style it however you want. Add braids, twists, or smooth it back, but whatever you do make sure your edges get SLAYED!
4. Braid the length of the ponytail and wrap it in a bun

Then...

1. Now that the weave shield has dried you can glue your extensions in horizontally only over the braided portion. Glue your last weft in the part so that there isn't a gap between your natural hair and the quick weave portion
2. Now you can unbraid the perimeter and straighten it so it all blends
3. Use what's left of your extensions to wrap around the bun you made in the top section
