7 Reasons Why Wigs Are The Best Protective Style

Why Wigs? Let's Take a Look!

I have to be honest, I've always been interested in wearing wigs especially since I've made several custom units for my clients. I admire how natural they appeared once placed on the head.

Now that wigs have become a go-to for women I may have to step my game up and become a part of the trend.

We can all agree that every woman is different and while some prefer to wear their hair, others like the convenience of wearing a wig. Some like to wear their hair in a particular hairstyle while others want to keep them guessing by being versatile. Some are committed to being in the shop every two weeks while others save every coin.

These are just some of the reasons why women decide to become a part of the wig movement, and I'm here for all of it!

So let's chat. Below are my reasons why I feel wigs are the best protective styles, but you may have some too. Please feel free to leave a comment below and let us know why you are a wig lover!

Convenience

Honey, convenience. I must agree! Can you imagine waking up every morning applying heat to your hair? Or not knowing what to do with your hair? It can ruin your day!

For my wig lovers, their hair is braided, scalp treated and they can wear any wig they desire. The best thing about it is if you want to use an adhesive, something simple like Got2BGlued you're able to apply and go in no time.

Wigs Offer Versatility

Have you ever woken up feeling like a different person? Felt like your name should be something else? Well, you can name that wig and become that person!

Monday through Thursday you may want to wear something simple but makes a statement. Fridays are casual so a curly unit will do the job. For the weekend bring out the colors.

Honestly, wigs bring out the personality, and people will start noticing you because you have different looks every day! What makes it even better is that wigs are not hard to make. You can make a wig at the convenience of your own home.

There are so many options when it comes to wigs, it's really up to you. Even U-part wigs are not hard to make and they usually cover the majority of your hair.

Bye Flat Irons!

I have to admit I love my flat irons. I may have about 25 in my closet in different shapes, sizes, and colors.

Although I'm a relaxed beauty (I've been transitioning to become a natural beauty for two years) I'm not sure if I'm strong enough to walk away. This is why I'm trying to do the right thing and be a part of the movement!

It's essential that we strive for healthy natural hair because there may be times when we want to wear it out. Even while you are wearing a weave or a wig you should still be taking care of your scalp while wearing extensions.

I need to take my advice, stay away from heat because it isn't good for my hair.

Wigs are a great protective style because they keep you from having to apply heat to your hair while still achieving curly and bone straight looks.

Wigs are Low Maintenance

I live to do NOTHING to my hair. Do you feel the same way? I'm sure you do.

Listen, start the morning off right by blasting your music while picking out the outfit of the day, eating breakfast, and applying your makeup. Every woman's dream.

I consider curly hair as less stressful because it's a shake and go texture. There are so many curly extension products that you can use to achieve really easy styles.

There are so many different hair types when it comes to curly hair. Just like your natural texture we have hair extensions that fall into the system of the different types of hair. Curly hair has three types, type 2 hair is wavy hair, type 3 hair is curly, and types of hair is oily.

Jerry Curls falls under type 3 hair. It has a tighter curl and full of life. Not too many people like the jery curl pattern because of how big huge it can become, but I love it. The tighter curl is so much easier to deal with it in the morning. All you have to do is add some water maybe a little bit of moisturizer or leave-in condition and keep it moving.

Loose wave falls under the type 2 category. This texture is often purchased because of its versatility. You can straighten the hair or leave it as it is. Or you can add flexirods to give it a little more bounce and have a tighter curl.

Coily hair falls under the type 4 category. So many women are transitioning into being natural. During that transition, some women require having hair extensions that are the same texture of there natural hair. If you have a client that wants a more natural look for a wig or sew-in the hair extensions are out there!

Hair Loss

I can't forget about my beauty who is suffering from hair loss. Situations like this are what makes the industry so unique because the stylist can create a wig just for you.

This is why it is so important to find a hairstylist in your city. Stylist listens while you share your concerns, advise you on what is needed, and build your confidence all at the same time. Losing your hair can be devastating. Wigs can be a great option for hair loss.

Affordability

Saving a coin makes the day better. Wigs can be expensive. A custom unit using a frontal (ear-to-ear), closure (used for middle parts) or a 360 ( covers the perimeter of the head) can cost you 300 dollars and up. However, if the stylist making the wig is using good hair and your taking care of the wig you can have it for a long time.

The wigs at the beauty supply store are a lot cheaper because they use synthetic hair, synthetic and human hair mixed, and 100% human hair.

Low Manipulation

Leave the Sew-ins and the quick weaves alone honey and invest in something that won't require too much time or maintenance. Wigs are easy to put on saving you hours of time in comparison to sew-ins and other styles.

One of the best things about wearing wigs is that they are low manipulation. You don't have to do much to get your wig popping since most wigs already come styled.

If I weren't rocking the Halle Berry, I would probably want a sew-in or a quick weave but it's vital that we allow the scalp and the hair to breathe once in a while. Wash and condition your hair every two weeks. Also, make sure you do a treatment then go back to the wigs.

Low manipulation

If you are a person that never wore a wig but considered it I say just do it! Go to your local beauty supply store and try on every single wig in the store. Ask questions, try colors, live a little.

You never know, you may become a wig master once you get the hang of it.
