That excitement and nervous energy filled me when I started teaching hair color. Believe me, when your hands know the rhythm of hairstyling, but your voice is new to teaching, it's like learning to ride all over again.

But hey, every challenge, every jittery moment, has a silver lining. 

The journey from those initial nerves to the confidence I feel today has been nothing short of transformative. Every class, session, and strand of hair painted brought a lesson. 

It teaches patience, mastery, connecting with fellow enthusiasts, and the sheer joy of sharing knowledge.

Today, as I sit back and reminisce, I’m thrilled to share some snippets from a recent podcast recording at the Private Label Studios.

Ah, beginnings. They're filled with so much anticipation, aren’t they? 

Picture this: a young stylist, hands seasoned with years of practice but a heart pounding at the thought of teaching.

 That was when I decided to enter the world of imparting hair color knowledge.

Teaching initially seemed like a vast, insurmountable mountain. I remember asking myself, "Who am I to teach?" The pressure of being a guide and a mentor was daunting. 

I worried about my approach, my clarity, and even my ability to communicate effectively. But deep down, amidst those swirling doubts, there was a burning passion to share and inspire.

So, with apprehension and determination, I took the plunge. I started with a modest fee of just $150, not because I undervalued my skills but because I wanted my classes to be accessible. 

This wasn't just about making a quick buck. It was about nurturing a community, creating a space where budding stylists could grow, and seasoned ones could refresh their passion.

What drove me was the vision of a classroom buzzing with energy, where beginners wouldn’t be and experts wouldn't feel constrained. 

A space where learning was mutual, where I could share my experiences and, in turn, be enriched by the diverse backgrounds of my students.

Looking back now, I see how those early days laid the foundation for what my classes represent today.

Don't get me wrong, their talents are undeniable, and their contributions are invaluable. But somewhere along the lines, the scales have tipped, and ladies, it's time for us to tip them back.

Why? Because the industry craves diversity. It thrives on the unique touches, perspectives, and sensibilities that only a diverse group of stylists can bring.
