Then, at the age of 12, I stopped perming my hair, and my hair became damaged. My hair wasn’t silky without those necessary chemicals. My hair wasn’t long anymore. It had adjusted to the no longer having those substances, and because I didn’t correctly nourish it during the transition, it began breaking off.
The story of my hair quickly became similar to others. Luckily, with proper research and the help of my mother, I was able to revive my hair. It’s not as long as it used to be, but it’s growing, and every day, I’m learning to prioritize my hair.

Most people are afraid of getting hair trims because they think they have to cut a lot of hair off. In reality, if you take care of your hair and get regular trims, you won’t have to cut too much hair off.
If you haven’t trimmed your hair in a long time, and your hair is severely damaged, then expect to shave a significant amount of hair to get the best results. If that’s not an option for you, then trim only a small amount, and treat the remaining hair that is damaged.
A cute bob cut or a pixie cut are styles that can curb the dislike of trims because they are cute and stylish. If you don’t want to go extreme, try using a professional hairstylist that can layer your hair. A layered trim will give you the option of not cutting your hair entirely short, yet still defeating the damaged ends.
Trimming should be followed by a regimen for damaged hair such as a restorative shampoo, conditioner, and other hair products.
Minimal Heat Until You’re Healthy
When your hair is damaged, it’s imperative to make sure you don’t do anything to harm it further.

Both types of water can be harmful, especially if you spend a lot of time in the water. Every time that you are in the water make sure that you gently wash your hair afterward.
Styling Products Can Help
Styling products can be helpful when it comes to repairing damaged hair.
When styling your hair, try to use products that don’t have high levels of alcohol or peroxide. Stick to products that are gentle. Gentle products that have nourishing oils will not only add moisture to your hair but provide you with shine.
Great styling products can also infuse proteins and amino acids that will strengthen your hair. Don’t use too much product since it can make your hair strands heavy. Use everything in moderation.
Hair Masks Are The Best

When choosing a hair mask look for products that have moisturizing and restorative ingredients such as protein, keratin, and shea butter. Avoid products that contain silicone since it won’t be of much help to your damaged hair.
For severely damaged hair, apply the treatment twice a week, and leave it on for a full hour. Use a plastic shower cap to help the product penetrate your hair. If your hair needs extra moisture throughout the week, you can apply a treatment after a wash session.
Don’t leave it on for the full hour, only a few minutes and then rinse with cold water. These procedures don’t require a professional. They are easy at home treatments that are simple to make. Be careful though, overdoing these treatments can cause your hair to look greasy.

Often when we think about damaged hair, we believe that it’s a lost cause.
