One question that is often asked is "how do I sell more hair extensions online?" There are hundreds of answers to this important question.

Today we are going to discuss how Blogging can greatly increase your website traffic as well as your online hair sales.

Most wholesale hair vendors are based overseas and are not well educated on what is needed to grow retail sales in America. Don't worry, we are here to help!

Getting Started with Blogging

We are going to assume that you already have a website that has blog features built in. This is pretty standard if you are using Shopify, Wordpress, Squarespace or most any other online E-commerce platform.

You will want to plan a few topics to write about. It is best to start writing about subjects you are very well educated about. By doing research, you can also learn about different subjects you would like to write about.

SEO Tips for Your Blog

If you are going to spend the time to write blog posts it is important to understand how to get the most out of them. Understanding some basics of SEO (search engine optimization) can skyrocket your blog posts to the top of Google and help you sell more hair.

Word Count

We recommend the minimum word count to be 300 words. If you have a topic with less than this then pair it up with another idea. If you have a subject that is broader and can give you a longer blog post then you have a great opportunity to have a blog post that will rank very well in Google. Research shows that well-written blog post with a word count of 1,500 - 2,000 words will generally rank higher than a shorter post.

ALT Tags for Images

The images you embed in your blog post should match what you are writing about. When adding the image you will see a space called "ALT TEXT" which gives you the opportunity to write about what the photo displays.

Remember Google can't technically see what a photo is so the ALT TEXT gives you the opportunity to give them some help. Google will thank you with a higher page rank.

Focus on a Keyword

When writing your post think about what "Keyword" you would like it to rank high for in Google. Make sure to use the Keyword in your blog title, a sub-heading, multiple times throughout the post, the post URL and configured in the SEO settings.

This will take a little bit of planning while writing your blog post but is very important to get better rankings.

How many times the Keyword appears in your post is known as "Keyword Density." Google loves when the keyword is mentioned in the first paragraph. It is crucial that it is in the Meta Tag Tittle as well as the Meta Tag Description of the post.

Add a Video

Create a supporting video for your blog post. Make sure you have it uploaded to YouTube and have it embedded into your post. This will help get your post more views and also keep the reader on your website longer.

Take a look at the videos in our posts about how Customers Love our Hair Extension Packaging and coloring tips for clip-in hair extensions. These are just a few examples of our posts that have videos in them to help support the post.

Here is an example of a video we created to talk about our edge control options:

Links on Page

Linking to other pages on your website as well as outside sources can help your post as well.

A few linking tips:

Link to a previous blog post: It is important to know how to do market your hair extensions.

Link to a product page. You are going to sell our Malaysian Body Wave Hair Extensions like crazy!

Link to an external website: We also offer hair extension dropshipping!

Did you notice how I constructed the links? They are linking to a page with a relevant term and not something like a "click here." When linking to a page on the same website they stay in the same tab. If you click the third link you will see that it opens up in a new tab.

Be Consistent

Google loves consistent updates. You don't have to write a post every day but we recommend a minimum of once a week. If you have a blog it is important you don't go too long without updating it because your customers might also wonder if you are still in business. I have personally been to websites that have not had the blog updated for a year and did not make a purchase because I was concerned if they were still serious about their business.

If you would like to sell more hair, you have to be consistent!

After Posting your Blog

After you publish your blog post your work is not done. It is in your best interest to get this post the most exposure possible. If your blog post gets more social shares then Google will think it is more popular and rank it better. Cha-Ching! Here are a few steps to take after you have published your post.

Share on your Social Media - If you have your own hair extension brand then chances are you have social media accounts related to it. Make sure to share your blog post immediately on all your social media platforms. Another tip is to schedule it a week later to post on your social media again and change the text related to the post.

Share on your Personal Social Media - Show off your work! Make sure to share that you have written a new blog post on your own social media. Hopefully, some friends will show some support and also share the link to your post and get you some extra exposure.

Put in your Newsletter - Filling your newsletter only with sales can lose your customer's attention. Show that you are knowledgeable about your industry. Your customers will trust you more and make more purchases.

Advertise your Post - One technique we like to do is to share the post on Facebook and "Boost" the post to show to the people that like our page. It will help make sure that your fans consistently see your content.

You can't sell more hair extensions if people are not finding you. This will help!

Sell More Hair!

Blogging will drive more traffic to your site but it will not happen overnight. One of the most important tips was to be consistent with your blogging efforts.

We would recommend at least one blog post a week to minimum results. If you thin you can push out a blog post every day then expect a greater increase in traffic much more quickly.

Increased traffic gives you a better chance at increased sales. It all becomes a numbers game.

It also gives you more opportunities to get more email sign ups. This can compound into much greater sales and long-term customer relationships.

Take a look at how we structure our blog posts with headings, photos, and videos. It can help you get a better understanding of how to structure your posts. You want to make them easy for your readers to follow and stay engaged.

Stay tuned as we will be writing more about how to be more successful with selling online!
