In Your Hair Dreams

What’s your hair fantasy?

If you’re anything like me, you love consistency. When getting up in the morning, I need to know what I’m wearing, how I’m going to do my makeup, and how I will style my hair.

Keeping it simple and rocking my signature style keeps my comfortable, confident, and ready to slay the day. Despite my routine, every once in a while, I feel the urge to switch things up and change my look. I’m not talking about simple layers or maybe highlights; I go in!

I am notorious for cutting all my hair off or drastically changing my hair color. What can I say, I needed the change! In this article, I will be sharing you with some beautiful, daring, and maybe even a little crazy, hairstyles to inspire you to switch up your look now and then.

Let’s face it; life is short! Don’t let it pass you by without rocking that pixie cut you’ve always wanted, or without expressing yourself through some color. This year, let’s break out of our shell and try something new!

#1 40 Inch Bundles

I know you may be a little skeptical, so I’m going to take it easy on you with this first style.

Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and more hot celebrities have been rocking the 40 inches of hair extensions down to their ankles this year, and we love it! Long dark hair is so sexy, sassy, and is guaranteed to make you stick out.

If you’re someone that typically wears their hair short, this is the perfect challenge for you! I’ll admit, 40 inches is quite the plunge, so let’s prep you by slaying 20 inches instead! I promise after the initial shock; you’ll love the versatility of long hair! Between the voluminous curls, long braids, and the infamous hair flip, you’ll be obsessed with your new long locks.

If you’re ready to slay this challenge, be sure to use Brazilian body wave or straight bundles to ensure the best experience with long tresses.

#2 Shaved Side

Rihanna rocked the shaved side haircut back in 2012, and ever since it has become a timeless style.

The shaved-side haircut is perfect for any good girl that wants to explore her rebellious side. This style is also great for those that want to explore new cuts without losing the versatility of having long hair.

If you already have short hair, don’t think this style isn’t for you! Check out this gorgeous model rocking her super short pixie cut with a shaved side and beautiful chevron design.

#3 Bright Colored Hair

I don’t know about you, but Rihanna and Haley Williams from Paramore had me wanting to dye my hair bright red so badly in high school!

Of course, this is something my mother never let me do because of the damage bleach and color can do to your hair. Now that I am older and much more knowledgeable about hair, I’d love to try a bright red color on a frontal wig! What colors are you dying to try? Here’s some inspiration:

Rihanna’s Bright Cherry Red

Rihanna’s bright red colored hair was iconic because of its vibrancy and tone. This red looked amazing against Rih’s skin tone and flowed with every little movement she made.

Multi-Colored Hair

This color job is a true masterpiece! With a shadow root, violet mid-length shaft and pink tips, this client is sure to turn heads everywhere she goes!

Multi-colored hair is always eye-catching, and the best part is you can choose whatever colors you like! Pink, green, orange, yellow, the sky is the limit with color!

Turquoise Hair

Maybe you aren’t feeling too fiery hot, but more of a cool, serene mood. You might love this vibrant yet cool turquoise blue color!

#4 Shaved Head

Whether you like her or not, you have to admit that Amber Rose displays confidence in everything she does.

Amber Rose is known for her iconic bleach blonde buzzcut, and its no question why. In our Western society, it is the norm for women to desire to have long luscious locks, but who said bald wasn’t beautiful either?

Women who drastically cut their tresses typically feel liberated from society’s beauty standards, and even empowered to express their beauty as they please and not how others desire.

#5 Huge Afro

If you aren’t interested in chopping off all your precious tresses, what about popping on a colossal wig?

The gorgeous and talented Fennella Like Whoa is always rocking wigs I will probably never have the courage to try, but this particular look I some of my favorites.

This platinum blonde, almost white, a curly afro wig is such an iconic statement. An afro of any size and texture is always beautiful, but you have to have incredible confidence and swagger to slay a bright colored wig the size of a disco ball.

While this might not be an everyday look, I can see myself slaying a New Years party with this wig. What do you think?

If you aren’t one for bright colors, check out Fennella rocking a similar wig but in a more natural color. This dark brown wig with gold highlights may be more toned down than the platinum blonde but is still unique enough to have everyone talking.

Break From Your Comfort Zone

There you have it, five breath-taking, daring, and maybe risky styles you can try to break out of your comfort zone!

I love experimenting with new styles because not only is it fun, but it challenges my confidence. Often us women connect our hair to our identity and worth.

So many of us are scared to cut or color our hair in fear we won’t be as beautiful or worth loving without our tresses protecting us from criticism. Take a moment and ask yourself, “Am I beautiful without my hair?”

Just take a few moments to reflect on your relationship with your hair, and decide whether you want or need to challenge yourself with one of your wildest hair dreams!

Omg! I guess you could call me boring because my hair stays the same. Unfortunately, I have worn the same hairstyle and color since 1990. I feel in love with Aaliyah and her style and haven’t changed it since. I love to see women with these different color and styles all the time. The diversity is amazing but for some reason, I don’t have the guts to try it. Just like the article says, I really am afraid that I won’t be as beautiful or loved. I am really in love with the multi-color hair out of all of them. I want to really try it out and maybe even in a Bob! But what if I get it done and I hate it or even worse, my hubby hates it? It’s just hair, right? I really envy women who are confident enough to pull off a bunch of different styles and colors. Hopefully one day I will be just as confident!

I always usually am very predictable natural hair color 14,16 inches wand curls.. but I always wanted to have 40-inch platinum blonde silky straight hair against my chocolate skin. I see myself in a photo shoot with the hair combining both breast and laid to the Gods lol, maybe one day I’ll bring this to reality until then I’ll stay in my box with my black hair lol

My wildest hair-do so far is turquoise hair, I did it as a bob fiat then I got it as a pixie cut and I absolutely loved it. Was very scared at first when it just got done though, my reaction to it was, what did I do? But I warmed up to it and ended up loving it which is why I did it two different ways. The look I can’t wait to try is 40” because being 6”1’ I just know I’ll be looking like a “Goddess” walking around in it. I would also love to try a wild cherry red preferably as a wavy bob.

I am pretty conservative and still working in corporate America, I don’t get the change to experiment with my hair like I wish I could. My absolute favorite color is PURPLE. I wish I could color my hair or wear pretty colored purple wig. I tend get 99j extensions because (depending on the brand) it has a hue of purple to it. (I’m blushing lol) That’s my HC (hair crush).

Red is my favorite color and I’ve always wanted to dye my hair that color but scared my hair is going to fall completely out. I use to rock the shaved sides and undercuts, I actually miss it now that I’m thinking about it. I wouldn’t mind trying a shaved look with some ill designs.
