DIY Moisturizing Hair Spray Recipes to Make Your Hair Thrive

It's Time to Save That Money

If you are as independently money-saving as I am, then you are in for a treat. We have all the best DIY hair spray recipes.

I discovered a long time ago that buying a bunch of expensive hair products wasn’t going to do anything but make me broker than I already was. The ingredients in these costly products are ingredients you can find in the products we keep around the house, anyway, so why waste your money?

Things like vitamin E, aloe vera gel, and essential oils are all affordable and available in most homes and grocery stores. You would also be spending at least a quarter less than you would on actual hair products.

Too Many Products can be Overwhelming

When I was first going natural, walking into the natural hair care aisle was always a treat for me.

Even though I would spend a bunch of unnecessary money, I got to try so many things and find out what my hair likes or so I thought. When I realize that most of the products have the same ingredients, it turned me onto a new leaf. Also, being a vet in the game of hair, I would say that my product hoarding interests started to overwhelm me to the point where looking at a hair care aisle would give me headaches.

If you prefer to make your natural hair products or find that you are overwhelmed by the number of natural hair products on the market, then DIY moisturizing sprays are just what you need! The added moisture can keep your hair looking, and you don’t have to go broke to do it!

In many hair products on the market, there are so many warnings and ingredients it is hard to keep up with what is penetrating your scalp.

With the recipes below, you know exactly what is going into your hair and which ingredients your hair loves.

What Does Your Hair Need?

Sometimes our hair has specific needs that require particular ingredients and techniques to bring your hair to life. Below are a few simple recipes for DIY moisturizing hair sprays when your hair is looking for that extra spritz!

For Moisture

The ultimate everyday mist, this is an all-in-one detangler and hair softener.

Ingredients:

Spray bottle

¼ cup Aloe vera juice

½ cup Water

One tsp Coconut oil (melted)

One tsp Jojoba oil

A dime size of your favorite conditioner (optional)

Shake it all up and store it in a refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Aloe vera is a natural healer, which means hydration and protection. The oils seal in the moisture of your cuticles. If your hair is prone to severe dryness, add a drop of your favorite conditioner into the mix for maximum moisture.

To Refresh

Perfect for a midday pick-me-up or a post-workout refresher, this mist will give your hair that just-washed feeling.

Ingredients:

Spray bottle

¼ cup of green tea

½ cup distilled water

1-2 drops of peppermint oil

One tsp coconut oil (melted)

One tsp tea tree oil

Shake it all up and store it in a refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Green tea is full of antioxidants, which makes it our hair health best friend. You can use regular water in this, but we recommend distilled water for that pure, refreshing, “ahhh” effect.

Tea tree oil’s anti-fungal properties relieve the scalp of irritation and itch, while the peppermint oil stimulates your roots with a feel-good tingly sensation.

For Shine

Floral-scented and vitamin-rich, this one’s going to give your tresses that vibrant, sexy shine you thought only existed in commercials (no joke).

Ingredients:

Spritzer bottle

⅓ cup of distilled water

Three tablespoons rose water

Three tablespoons of aloe vera gel or 2-3 drops of aloe vera oil

Two tsp of olive oil

Two tsp of almond oil

Shake it up and keep in a cool area for up to 5 days.

The rosewater and aloe vera combo reduce frizz and ups hydration. Almond oil contains superpower ingredients like omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E, which nourishes from the inside, resulting in glossy locks.

Plus, olive oil is rich in antioxidants and helps combat hair loss.

Just Do It, Yourself

You do not need these expensive products that contain everything you can find in the items in your house or a grocery store. Just, put together a few natural ingredients into a spray bottle and watch your hair thank you every single time you use it.
