There's a difference between chemically processed hair and physically processed hair — and it matters.

Most hair on the market — even quality "virgin" hair — has been chemically treated to achieve a curl pattern or uniform texture. Chemical processing alters the internal structure of the strand, which is why processed hair tends to break down faster, handle color less predictably, and feel different after repeated washing.

Steam processing is different. Heat and moisture physically reshape the curl without breaking down the strand's natural protein structure. The cuticles stay intact. The hair's strength is preserved. "Burmese Curly" is the industry name for this curl pattern — a defined 3B–3C corkscrew curl with real volume and movement. The name refers to the texture style, not the geographic origin of the hair.

It's softer than African kinky textures but tighter than loose wave patterns, making it an ideal texture match for Black women with natural hair. It doesn't read as "weave" — it reads as yours.

Note on Length: Raw curly hair is measured stretched. A 20" bundle will sit shorter once installed in its natural curl state. This is standard across the raw hair industry.

How Many Bundles Do You Need?

Burmese Curly is naturally full and dense — you typically need fewer bundles than straight or wavy textures.

How to Care for Raw Burmese Curly Hair

Raw curly hair needs moisture to stay defined and tangle-free. The routine is simple:

Wash: Use a sulfate-free shampoo. Wash in a downward motion — never scrub in circles.

Condition: Deep condition after every wash. Raw curly hair is porous and drinks moisture.

Detangle: Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush from ends to roots, while wet. Never brush dry curly hair.

Dry: Scrunch and air dry for max curl definition. Diffuse on low heat if needed.

Refresh: Between washes, a spray bottle of water and leave-in conditioner is all you need to revive the curls.

Protect at night: Pineapple or satin pillowcase. This single habit extends hair life more than anything else.

Seal your wefts before installation. Apply weft sealer along the seams before your stylist installs the bundles. This prevents shedding and significantly extends the life of the hair.
